Ocho rios; young coconut water, dread lock, reggae and bob marley.“From the very first time I blessed my eyes on you girl…” (song title : waitin’ in vain by Bob Marley). Yeah man, it was the first time I stepped my feets on the land where Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) was born, Jamaica. Not in Kingston or Montego Bay, but in Ocho Rios Jamaica. Ocho Rios is a Spanish name (Ocho= eight, Rios= river) which mean eight rivers.
I heard sound far distance, the characteristic of Bob Marley and reggae sound, singing one of famous Bob Marley and The Wailers song “waiting in vain”, sounded by speaker with very simply sound system.
This sound system provided by the merchant who offer fresh and authentic young coconut water. We can taste the very fresh young coconut water under the heat of Jamaica’s sun just for US$5. What’s make this young coconut water more interesting is the small shop 
painted with green, yellow and red colour just like the colours of African’s Flags. And in the front of this shop there is a picture of smoking Rastafarian. The merchant has dread lock hair similar Bob Marley and use to say “No problem!” then he smile to his customers. Yeah, one warm greeting from Jamaica, Rasta no problem.
Just walk way from the merchant of young coconut water we can find one special place that provide all about Jamaican merchandise and also Bob Marley, the name is Island Village. Beside that, Island Village also provide stage for music performance, reggae music off course. We can see some reggae music performances if we are lucky, and it wasn’t my lucky day.
The other merchandise market is Taj Mahal shopping arcade. There are plenty of merchant whose offer many kind of Jamaican merchandises, from stickers to t-shirts. Named Taj Mahal because there is a miniature of Taj Mahal mosque in India and most of the merchants are from India. Hard Rock café is also available store to visit, we can relax and choose what kind of souvenir we want to bring home.
Yeah it wasn’t my lucky trip because it was just special cruise, just one day and once during 8 months working in this cruise ship. My vessel is going to sail and I had to work again. But my trip always continued, no problem man!
